The last time we checked in with Clarke Sondermann’s project Pleasure Systems, it was via an excellent Addison Rae cover, a cover good enough that we could picture it in the background of a trailer for some sort of summer-centric romantic comedy, if those still even get made anymore. Do those still get made? Sound off in the comments. Anyway, now Sondermann has new music to share: “When We Find It,” a delicate ode to the Fire Island Pines, the artist’s new base. Co-produced with Ivan Berko, the song seems to float above the beach using its own atemporal pop calculus, at once disconnected from any specific moment in musical time and planted in the emotional tenor of the present. It’s a highly personal song, dedicated to a special and symbolic hamlet. Now that we think about it, it probably could work in a movie trailer too.
