3. Can you tell us about this track?

The track is called "MEROMERO," which is the very funny and colloquial way to call someone the "big boss" or the "top dog." It takes the listener on a sonic journey through a mesmerizing landscape of glitched textures, intricate rhythms, and ethereal melodies.

The composition blends organic and synthetic elements, creating a sense of tension and release. “MEROMERO" reflects my fascination with the interplay between human consciousness and technology, inviting listeners to explore the depths of their own inner worlds.

4. What's your process?

My process is a fusion of meticulous sound design and spontaneous experimentation. I begin by crafting intricate sonic textures, using a combination of synthesizers, field recordings, and granular synthesis techniques. I then layer and manipulate these elements, seeking to create a captivating sonic tapestry. Throughout the process, I remain open to unexpected sonic discoveries and happy accidents, allowing the music to guide me. My main tools are a Eurorack Synthesizer and a NordG2 Modular synthesizer which I use to sequence everything in my studio.

5. Can you tell us about your scene?

The experimental scene in Mexico City is a vibrant and diverse community of artists, musicians, and enthusiasts who are constantly pushing the boundaries of electronic music. There are numerous underground venues and collectives that foster a spirit of exploration and collaboration. The scene embraces a wide range of experimental genres, from glitch and ambient to breakcore and abstract electronics. It's a supportive and inspiring environment where artists can freely express their unique visions and connect with like-minded individuals.

6. Who are your biggest influences?

I draw inspiration from a variety of artists who have shaped the experimental IDM landscape. Pioneers such as Aphex Twin, Autechre, Boards of Canada, and Qebrus have been significant influences on my sound, as their boundary-pushing compositions continue to push the envelope.

Additionally, local artists from Mexico like Turning Torso, Camille Mandoki, Erreopeo, Amotken and Aquamute have had a profound impact on my artistic sensibilities, showcasing the rich fusion of traditional Latin American elements with electronic music.

7. Who's your favorite artist on Nina?

It's challenging to pick just one favorite artist on Nina, as there are so many talented individuals within the IDM and electronic music community. However, I find myself particularly drawn to the mesmerizing soundscapes and intricate compositions of Turning Torso. His blend of pulsating rhythms, emotive melodies, and organic textures creates a truly captivating sonic experience.

I would like to give a shoutout to my fellow experimental IDM artists in Mexico City who continually inspire and challenge me. I'm grateful for the collaborations, late-night jam sessions. Specific artists names would be: Turning Torso, Koi, Amina Cyu, Erreopeo, Amotken and Aquamute.
