Both artists have backgrounds in extreme and experimental music; coming together here, they kick out a couple of jams that combine sound design smarts with pure noise aggression. Made in a spirit of technological resistance, the record attempts to articulate a struggle for autonomy within a digital system of control—sonically, that can manifest itself as a shriek, or something that almost sounds like a person attempting to chew their way out of a paper bag, or a jump-cut, or a jumpscare, or a crystalline shot of pure feedback. The name of the release? It’s fitting.
