Best song by a Midwest emo band?
“I Swallowed a Bug” by Boy Problems
It was hard to narrow down to just one because emo is such a massive part of my life, but I think this song kind of encapsulates the corners of YouTube I was typically lurking in my early teens.
Best song to play at a crazy house party?
“VIOLENT. RAW. Live” by soundstimulant
I love a really turnt party song that no one knows. However, I'm anti-gatekeeping, I want you to put everyone you know on.
Best song for getting ready to go out?
“Come Outside” by K Money
My bestie is Canadian and relentlessly tried to convert me to Canadian rap for over a year. It worked, I can't get ready without this song to hype me up.
Best song for getting in the pit?
“Punish” by Jesus Piece
I’m retired from the pit but this one definitely gives me the urge to get back in there.
Best song by an Australian artist?
“SKY” by koreancrashout
Again, impossible to narrow down, but at the moment really enjoying how unique and personal this feels as an Asian-Australian.
Best song that makes you think about your first love?
“would your front porch collapse” by if i die in mississippi
I think this was a song my first e-boyfriend put on a mixtape for me when I was 15, it's really cute.
Best song to cook to?
“TCG” by 3ndles5 and Crazymike
Tremendous. Cracking. Gear. Sydney bass is going to change the world, wake up.
Best song by a 2000s electro artist?
“First Love” by Uffie
Not even a fun or clubby track, it's just super cute and kind of awkward. That kind of vulnerability will never go out of fashion. It's perfect.
Best song to listen to when you're feeling really sad?
"Mental Health" by The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die
I believe in fully experiencing pain in order to transmute it. This song makes me feel viscerally sick with sadness.
Best song to listen to when you're feeling really happy?
"On Earth As It Is" by Brevin Kim
Straight up good Christian white boy vibes on this one. Just wanna be driving a truck windows down, cap backwards, wind in my hair. Wooooohooo.
